ROSY RINGS
Rosy Rings might have come a long way, moving from business owner Shannon Cumberland’s basement to its current 30,000 square foot facility in Denver, but this brand will always stick to its roots — hand crafted luxury botanical candles and diffusers inspired by nature and produced with natural products.
While it’s previous packaging had proved successful, it was time for this brand to refresh and differentiate itself from the natural products that had saturated the market with that all-familiar “Kraft” packaging look.
Because the Rosy Rings product line is inspired by nature, it was important that the packaging reflect the hands-on care that goes into every item. San Francisco-based Rosslyn Kasman Design was charged with developing a new look and feel for the boxes that housed the candles and diffusers and the wraps for the soy tin candles. Kasman’s challenge was to explore ways to preserve the rustic, natural feel of the original packaging, while creating a fresh and more modern update to support the brand’s visual design and illustrations.
Rosy Rings is a brand that is committed to using natural products and treating the environment responsibly — the glassware used for the candles contains 40% recycled glass and the tins contain 30% post-consumer recycled content — so it was only fitting that the search for folding carton papers would lead to a custom solution by Neenah Packaging based on their iconic ENVIRONMENT® Papers brand.

While researching stocks for the newly designed packaging, Kasman and Rosy Rings fell in love with ENVIRONMENT® Papers in the Tortilla shade. The natural flecks and neutral, earthy tones of the paper perfectly captured the essence of the brand, but the sheet was not available in a weight that was durable enough for a folding carton.
Stepping up to the challenge, Neenah Packaging worked to create a solution by laminating a text weight sheet, in the paper Kasman chose, to a rigid board back (an SBS Kraftpak). The custom Neenah® Box Wrap solution gave Rosy Rings the ability to get the exact color, look and texture they wanted, with the structural integrity that was required of the packaging.
Working with Neenah Packaging to find a custom packaging solution was a great way to ensure we’d produce a packaging that fit the client’s specific needs, while creating something that is distinct and truly one-of-a-kind.
